To embrace the truth of a relationship with Jesus is to embrace the greatest love of all.

Leadership

When Samuel prophesied that a king would only be trouble, how true that word is even today. He told them that the Lord God is king, and he still is. The problem is when the people look to a human authority alone there are many opportunities for things to go awry.

The leader does not understand that he must be under the authority of the Lord and does not seek council from the Lord on important decisions, and therefore is not likely to do things God’s way—the better way, and certainly not with the understanding of a perspective from the throne room of heaven.

The people look to that human leader and trust in him more than they trust in the Lord. They set him up as an idol—a god whom they can watch at every move with the expectation that he will be their oracle for the word of the Lord and take on the important job of praying for the nation, and a man they can inevitably blame for the injustice they see in their nation.

We must remember that the Lord is our king, and he loves each one of us so much that he speaks with each of us as a friend, and there is nothing he would tell a president or king that he could not also tell to the “less important” people in society. We must also remember that although leadership comes with responsibility, the entirety of the responsibility of praying for those people and circumstances under their command is not their job alone. We must lift one another in prayer and look unto the Lord with open hearts to embrace His way.
