Sometimes I wonder if God is keeping a time capsule of all the beautiful little moments we share for us to reminisce in eternity. If so, it would be the most exquisite assortment—I cannot even begin to describe it in detail. These vague snapshots will have to do.
- All those little moments when a light breeze tousles my hair, and I know that my creator is so close that if we could touch, we would already be skin to skin.
- He’s in the music when I am worshiping him with my voice, and I get this overwhelmingly joy that has me caught like a deer in the headlights, almost speechless if not for the premeditated words on the page to direct me, or the new words spoken by Holy Spirit in me.
- Those moments when I get caught up in the business of the day and He reminds me, it hits me and for a moment the time that moves so fast is like He is causing it to move at half its speed just so I can catch the glory of His workmanship in the way a sunbeam hits a canopy of leaves and warms the oranges in their branches to tickle my nose with the scent of summertime in the middle of winter. Suddenly I realize that the world is a beautiful place because of Him, even in the midst of garbage heaps and concrete jungles.
- He’s in those little sensations that suddenly, and without external cause, wash over me with the wine of years past in a rush of memories to remind me for a brief moment of how we used to be—how I was so shy toward my Jesus, and him so sweet and persistent but always patient.
It’s not even about the sensation necessarily, but those things cause a shift in my consciousness. When I realize that He has left his fingerprint on all the things around me, it brings me to a place of awe and delight in Him where these moments, whatever I am doing, becomes a moment of worship and communion with my beloved. Perhaps when I get to heaven, since I will already be in a place with Him, I will not constantly need reminders and invitations to rest in God’s peace. He is all around us now, but when the veil is lifted, how much more present will we be in Heaven! All the glorious splendor of creation is present in Him, and so much more than we could ever fathom.
